Halau 'O Keikiali'i Open Enrollment

Open to men and women, beginner or experienced, who are interested in dancing
with our halau.

Kanikapila Fridays with Uncle Hiram Bell
Last Friday of the month:
8/27, 9/24, 10/29, 11/26, 12/17
730pm - until pau
Fee: By donation - funds go toward maintenance of our Cultural Center
(chairs, tables, floors, repairs etc..)
Food: If can, it would be nice to bring a small dish or snacks for all to enjoy.
The center will provide, plates/napkins/forks.
Kanawai (guidelines):
*The location of the Kanikapila is at our Halau Hula (Halau o Keikiali`i).
Please respect your surroundings (don't touch drums and other people instruments).
Help set up or breakdown tables and chairs. Throw away rubbish, recycle cups/cans etc.).
*The Pa (stage) is off limits, please don't place things on there or sit.
* The goal of the Kanikapila at the center is to perpetuate Hawaiian Music.
Taking it one step further, good ol' fashion Kanikapila - so work on your Ho`opili
Skills (follow the musician). Not all songs will come out of a book or with paper.
If you are leading a song, call out the key.
* Bring one or more friends. The more the merrier! The goal is for everyone is to
have a good time!
Kane Hula
Halau 'O Keikiali'i is currently seeking men to be a part of our Halau Hula
(hula school). In addition to learning more about Hawaiian dance, there is
the opportunity learn: Oli (chant), Pa`ahana (implement making), and
Na Mea Hula (lei and clothing making)
